The district of Setúbal is now the second with more new cases of covid-19, passing Porto to third place, indicates a report that reveals that 36% of the infected people were between 20 and 39 years old.
The data from the epidemiology and statistics division of the DGS for the period between 13 and 21 May and revealed this Sunday by the Minister of Health show that, using a sample of 1504 cases, corresponding to 80% of all new cases of covid -19 infected in the same period, 48% were women and 36% occurred in the age group between 20 and 39 years old.
The statistical analysis also concludes that more than half of the new cases (55%) occurred in the district of Lisbon and that “the district of Setúbal became the second with more new cases of contagion, with 13% of the total, with Porto becoming be the third, with 11% “, revealed Marta Temido at the daily press conference on the situation of covid-19 in Portugal.
Of the new cases of contagion, half of the people experienced symptoms and 33% were asymptomatic.
The sample also revealed that 45% of infections were contracted at home, 19% in the workplace, 11% occurred in nursing homes and that 10% of people were infected in a social environment, “a percentage that remains relatively stable throughout of the weeks “, according to Marta Temido.
Of the 1504 cases in the sample, 244 had a registered profession, of which 80 were health professionals, of which 14 were nurses.
Portugal accounts for 1,316 deaths associated with covid-19 in 30,623 confirmed cases of infection, according to the latest daily bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) on the pandemic.
In relation to the previous day, there are 14 more deaths (+ 1%) and 152 more cases of infection (+ 0.5%).
The number of hospitalized people dropped from 550 to 536, of which 78 were in intensive care units (minus two).
Due to a change in accounting procedures, the number of recovered patients has now increased from 7,705 to 17,549.
